FAQ

Have questions about our pet urgent care services? Our FAQ page provides helpful information about walk-in visits, emergency situations, payment options, and what to expect when your pet needs urgent veterinary care.

What are your urgent care hours?

Our urgent care hours are Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM–8:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday from 8:00 AM–6:00 PM.

Do I need an appointment for urgent care, or can I walk in?

No appointment is required for urgent care visits. While calling ahead is recommended so our team can better prepare for your arrival, walk-ins are welcome anytime during operating hours.

What’s the difference between emergency care and urgent care?

Urgent care is intended for non-life-threatening illnesses or injuries that still require prompt medical attention. Common urgent care concerns include ear infections, vomiting or diarrhea, minor wounds, limping, skin issues, coughing, or urinary concerns.

Emergency care is for serious or life-threatening conditions that require immediate medical attention. Signs your pet may need emergency care include difficulty breathing, seizures, severe bleeding, trauma, collapse, poisoning, inability to urinate, or sudden severe pain.

If you are unsure whether your pet needs urgent or emergency care, please call our team or bring York pet to our hospital. We provide both urgent care and emergency care services.

How much does urgent veterinary care cost?

The cost of urgent care varies depending on your pet’s condition, diagnostics needed, and treatments provided. An exam fee is typically charged at the time of your visit, with additional costs based on services such as X-rays, laboratory testing, medications, or procedures.

After your pet is evaluated, our team will discuss recommended treatment options and provide an estimate before proceeding whenever possible. Our goal is to provide timely, compassionate care while keeping you informed throughout your pet’s visit.

What should I bring to an urgent care visit?

Please bring any medical records you have available, including vaccination history, current medications, recent test results, and your regular veterinarian’s information. If possible, bring a list of your pet’s symptoms and when they began.

For your pet’s safety, dogs should be on a leash and cats should be in a secure carrier. If your pet may have ingested a toxin or medication, please bring the packaging or a photo of the label.

Do you offer payment plans for urgent care visits?

We accept CareCredit, which offers flexible financing options for purchases of $200 or more, subject to credit approval. Additional information can be found at carecredit.com.

We also accept Scratchpay, cash, and all major credit cards.

What happens if my pet needs urgent care after hours?

If your pet requires care after our urgent care hours, we recommend visiting VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital for emergency veterinary services.

Can you treat my pet if they’re not an existing patient?

Yes. You do not need to be an existing client for your pet to be seen by our urgent care or general practice doctors. Upon request, records from your visit can also be forwarded to your primary veterinarian for continuity of care.
